25 Years of Revealing the Future With You
Antibody Solutions was founded in 1995 by current president, John Kenney, PhD, current chief financial officer, Judith Lynch-Kenney, and Dennis and Bette Gould. Officially incorporated three years later, Antibody Solutions was one of the world’s first independent antibody discovery companies. For several years prior, Dr. Kenney had managed the monoclonal antibody development laboratory for Syntex Research (acquired by Roche in 1994) in Palo Alto, Calif. and had recognized a growing need among research companies for fit-for-purpose antibodies.
After conducting market research in 1999, the company pivoted from catalog work to custom antibody discovery for therapeutics, diagnostics and critical reagents. That same year, Antibody Solutions became one of the first companies to move solely to using cell-line flasks instead of mouse ascites for antibody production. And one year later, the company pioneered the use of bioreactors
With demand for its services steadily growing, Antibody Solutions moved its operations in 2004 to a new laboratory in Mountain View, Calif., complete with a vivarium to manage immunizations onsite. As industry innovators began to more seriously explore the use of antibodies in therapeutics, Antibody Solutions in 2006 became the first company to offer high-throughput screening of cell-surface antigens using flow cytometry.
As the company’s client base and service offerings continued to expand, Antibody Solutions outgrew its existing facility and relocated in 2011 to a larger office and lab space in Sunnyvale, Calif. At the same time, the firm expanded its collaboration with other service providers such as OMT (OmniAb®”), Trianni, Harbour Antibodies™, Single Cell Therapy and Alloy Therapeutics, bringing the latest tools and technologies to its work for clients.
Continued growth in the company’s team, client work and services propelled the company in 2019 to relocate once more, this time into a new 33,000 square-foot-plus facility in Santa Clara, Calif. This move, which allows ample space for future expansion, coincided perfectly with Antibody Solutions’ 25th anniversary in 2020.
